I’ve had quite some troubles running the scrips using Windows 7 Ultimate and Autohotkey. Hope you find this useful and let me know if you need further help with it! I’ve also set the right Alt key to be End and the right Windows key to be Home. So what that means is that I’ve swapped the positions of the left Alt key and the left Windows key. Look for them from line 46-49, and they’ll look like this: I’ve also modified some of the Apple keyboard keys to suit me though, and you can change it in the file “Keyboard Media Keys.ahk”.

What this script does is to remap the eject key on the keyboard to be a Delete key. Now, just run the file “Keyboard Media Keys.ahk”.

You’ll first need to install AutoHotKey.

If you’re interested, here it is: AutoHotKey script for Apple Keyboard. I had to use a script that was generously given to the community, and modify it to suit my needs. With AutoHotKey, I just run a script that remaps the keys that I want, and whenever I’m outside with just my notebook, I disable the script and I’m back to my default key settings. Which makes you faster using both than you'd ever be using either one alone.I chose this solution over SharpKeys (another key re-mapping utility) primarily because AutoHotKey allows for “profiles”, which is useful because sometimes I use my notebook alone without my external keyboard, and I want the default key mappings to be restored. Most any command, with the notable exception of moving your cursor around on the screen, can be accessed quickly by keyboard shortcut as well as by using the mouse. This is the secret for flying fast with Adobe apps on Windows PCs. Type the number to the left of any of those files, and as long as you haven't moved said file since you last opened it, it will now appear on the desktop.

Press the Rkey to select the Open Recent command, and a pop-up menu appears, showing recent InDesign documents you've worked on.

Note that every command in the opened File pull-down menu has a letter underlined as well. This opens the File pull-down menu, just like if you clicked on the word with your mouse.

Keep holding down the Altkey and press the Fkey.

It'll be the first letter for all the commands except T able, because Type got dibs. There will be a letter underlined for each pull-down menu command.

Hold down the Altkey, then look in the menu bar.

You won't find this to always be the case between PC and Mac applications, but Adobe apps are the same between platforms down to the keyboard shortcuts.īonus Tip: If you really want to learn how to fly with keyboard shortcuts on the PC, explore how the Windows Altkey interacts with menu and dialog box commands. Ctrl+D pulls up the Placedialog box the same way on your PC that Cmd+D always did on your Mac. The reach for the key is slightly different, but Ctrl+N will open a new file with your PC the exact same way it will with Cmd+Non the Mac.
